Send a copyright notice

Send a signed notice identifying the copyrighted work, the material you believe infringes it, and enough information for us to locate that material, such as a URL or cover ID. Include your address, telephone number, and email. State that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or law, and that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act for the rights holder, under penalty of perjury.

Consider lawful uses, including fair use. Knowingly material misrepresentations can result in liability. For non-copyright issues, use our reporting contact.

Our response

We review notices, seek missing information where appropriate, and expeditiously remove or disable access when required. We take reasonable steps to notify the affected contributor. A notice and relevant contact information may be shared with that person as part of this process.

Counter-notices

If your material was removed by mistake or misidentification, send a signed counter-notice identifying the removed material and its previous location. Include a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification. Include your name, address, telephone number, consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address, or if outside the United States a federal district where we may be found, and agreement to accept service from the original complainant or their agent.

We forward a valid counter-notice to the complainant. Under the statutory process, restoration occurs between 10 and 14 business days after receipt unless we receive notice of a filed court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement. Separate lawful grounds for restricting content may still apply. Your counter-notice identifies you to the complainant.

Repeat infringement

We terminate access for repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances and may act sooner for serious abuse. We consider valid notices, retractions, counter-notices, and relevant facts. We accommodate and do not interfere with applicable standard technical measures.

See the U.S. Copyright Office's notice-and-takedown resources. A filed designation alone does not establish entitlement to safe-harbor protection.
